Little Known Facts about Sarah Palin: a fun day of Tweeting

Posted on August 29, 2008 by Jeremy Toeman

I’ve spent a good part of the last 6 hours chuckling following the “Little Known Facts” meme about Sarah Palin. It appears to have started by a Twitter user named Michael Turk who Tweeted:

Little known fact: Sarah Palin used to wrestle kodiak bears in Alaskan bare knuckles fight clubs.

Since then, over 1000 (1092 at the time of writing) other entries have appeared. In fact, 60 more were written while I write this blog post.

Some are LOL funny. Some are not. But it’s just made my day, and if you want to read more, enjoy them here (including mine). There’s even palinfacts.com already in place with some highlights.

Thank you Internet (and especially Michael Turk), for making today an especially fun one.

It really is a weird feeling to see this take off the way it did. One minute I’m screwing around and the next I’m seeing it come back at me a thousand-fold.

    I love the Internet.

it seems like the cool crowd picking on the girl with glasses in junior high school. a very curious example of social media crowd behavior. and doesn’t say much about the intelligence of america.

Don’t be so humble, Michael. You’re an expert in this stuff. Even when it’s accidental. 😀

Seriously one of the most fun memes ever. Even if some of the Little Known Facts only got a tiny chuckle.

@gregorylent – Little Known Fact: gregorylent seems to be lacking in a sense of humor. Lighten up man, I’d wager most of the people participating in the meme were more interested in finding a clever/unique entry than “picking on” her. Come on.

@turk – thanks for the laughs!

Seems to be a rather stupid rehashing of Chuck Norris jokes from a couple of years ago, with a spattering of lame new versions (i.e. iPhone jokes).

    Didn’t even raise a chuckle.

She is a perfect running mate for John McCain.
Do you have any idea how difficult it was to find a candidate less intelligent the John McCain?

It nothing like picking on a girl with glasses(who hunts moose with her bare hands and cooks them by shinning light from her eyes through her glasses).
Seriously, the impression I got was affection, and I am sure she would love to read some of the little known facts about her.

Senetor Palin was only chosen for the womens vote. If Hilary was chosen VP for the democrates, McCain had another choice on hand. The reason Palin doesn’t step in front of reporters is because she is going through extensive training on how to answer all the questions she’s going to be asked. She is AMAZING at reading a speech!! But start asking her questions at this point she will fold like a beach chair. Sorry to disappoint you Palin supporters but she’s not the real deal!

Sarah, we’ll surely miss you. I have never laughed so hard before, while listening to a (wannabe) politician! You have a career in stand-alone comedy, just be yourself!
