Music and me are like peas and carrots. Money and me are like Tom and Jerry. So when CD’s came out, and blank tapes were abundant, I made copies of my friend’s discos compactos. The quality wasn’t as good, the shiny disk factor was null, but there was one advantage to purchasing tapes over CD’s: choice. I never bought the same blank tapes twice. With more selection and different colors to choose from, it was fun to run out of tapes and purchase new ones.
Some crazy Japanese site posted up every single blank tape ever made, ever. Those on dial up, prepare for a long load time, but it’s worth it. I think that the third gear tapes were my favorites. And of course the audioDEMAGNETIZER was always a favorite of mine. If I only had a tape deck in my car still, I’d rock out just one more time for the nostalgic factor.
